Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Registration Labels) Regulations 2017
I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Registration Labels) Regulations 2017 .
These regulations take effect on 1 September 2017.
In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of current registration label .
5. Regulations 64 and 65 rescinded
Regulations 64 and 65 of the Principal Regulations are rescinded.
6. Regulation 71 amended (Surrender)
Regulation 71 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulation (6) .
7. Regulation 107 substituted
Regulation 107 of the Principal Regulations is rescinded and the following regulation is substituted:107. Return of certificate of registration after cancellation or expiry of registration, &c.
If the registration of a motor vehicle or a trailer is cancelled or expires without renewal, the registered operator must, if the Registrar so requires, return the certificate of registration for the vehicle or produce evidence to the Registrar's satisfaction that the certificate of registration has been lost, stolen or destroyed.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 5 penalty units.
8. Regulation 119 amended (Rebate for interchangeable trailers)
Regulation 119(11)(a) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "and registration label".
9. Regulation 120 amended (Rebate for certain 3-axle buses)
Regulation 120(9)(a) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "and registration label".
10. Regulation 138 amended (Issue of duplicate or replacement documents)
Regulation 138(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (e) .
11. Schedule 1 amended (Fees)
Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from column 2 of item 29 "or registration label".

These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 by removing the requirement for registration labels to be issued or displayed in respect of heavy vehicles.
