Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2017
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2017 .
These regulations take effect on 1 July 2017.
In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 121 amended (Interpretation of Part)
Regulation 121 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of prescribed period and substituting the following definition:prescribed period means the period commencing on 1 July 2017 and ending on 30 June 2027.
5. Regulation 122 amended (Road safety levy)
Regulation 122(3) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "$25" and substituting "16.13 fee units,";(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) "$15" and substituting "9.68 fee units,".

These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 by (a) extending the period for which the road safety levy is payable; and(b) converting the road safety levy from a dollar amount to fee units.
