Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Exemption) Regulations 2007
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Exemption) Regulations 2007 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 78 amended (Statutory exemption for interstate and foreign vehicles)
Regulation 78 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after subregulation (2) the following subregulation:(3) The condition specified in subregulation (2)(a) does not apply in the case of a vehicle (a) that is not being used for a commercial purpose; and(b) that is being operated by a person who has a residential address, or ordinarily resides, in a place other than Tasmania.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 so as to provide that certain exemptions from vehicle registration under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 do not lapse in the case of a vehicle (a) that is not being used for a commercial purpose; and(b) that is being operated by a person who has a residential address, or ordinarily resides, in a place other than Tasmania.
