Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2006

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2006 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations are taken to have taken effect immediately after regulation 5 of the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulations 2006 was taken to have taken effect.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.   Regulation 97 amended (General exemptions)

(1)  Regulation 97(a) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the following subparagraphs:

(iii) an institution that is, or is entitled to be, endorsed by the Australian Tax Office as a charitable or benevolent institution;

(iv) otherwise approved by the Registrar as being exempt;

(2)  Regulation 97(a) of the Principal Regulations is further amended by inserting after:

(iii) a local authority;

the following subparagraphs:

(iv) an institution that is, or is entitled to be, endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a charitable or benevolent institution;

(v) otherwise approved by the Registrar as being exempt;

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

These regulations are administered in the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations retrospectively amend regulation 97 of the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 by renumbering that regulation to correct a numbering anomaly caused by previous retrospective amendments effected by the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulations 2006 .
