Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Amendment Regulations 2000

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Amendment Regulations 2000 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 commences.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)

Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting the definition of Commission ;
(b) by omitting the definition of Registrar and substituting the following definition:
Registrar means the Registrar of Motor Vehicles under section 5 of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

5.    Regulation 6 amended (Registrar to remit amounts to Board)

Regulation 6 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting "Commission" and substituting "Registrar";
(b) by omitting "by it" and substituting "by the Registrar".

6.    Regulation 12 amended (Registrar to provide particulars)

Regulation 12 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "Commission" and substituting "Registrar".

7.    Regulation 14 amended (Certification of extract of records)

Regulation 14 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraphs:
(c) the Registrar or a person authorised by the Registrar to give the certification on the Registrar's behalf; or
(d) the manager of the office at which the premium was paid or a person authorised by the manager to give the certification on the manager's behalf.
