Environment Protection (Noise) Amendment (Vehicle) Regulations 2000
I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 .

These regulations may be cited as the Environment Protection (Noise) Amendment (Vehicle) Regulations 2000 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 commences.
In these regulations, the Environment Protection (Noise) Regulations 1977 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from subregulation (1) the definition of "motor cycle" and substituting the following definition:motor bike has the same meaning as in the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ;(b) by omitting from subregulation (1) the definition of "motor vehicle" and substituting the following definition:motor vehicle has the same meaning as in the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ;(c) by omitting from subregulation (1) the definition of "passenger car" and substituting the following definition:passenger car means a motor vehicle (other than a motor bike, an omnibus or a multi-purpose passenger car) constructed primarily for carrying passengers;(d) by omitting from subregulation (1) the definition of "registered" and substituting the following definition:registered means registered under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .
Schedule I to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from column I "Motor cycle" and substituting "Motor bike".
Schedule II to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from the heading to Part I "MOTOR CYCLES" and substituting "MOTOR BIKES";(b) by omitting from the heading to the first column of Part I "motor cycle" and substituting "motor bike";(c) by omitting from the heading to the second column of Part I "Motor cycles" and substituting "Motor bikes";(d) by omitting from the heading to the third column of Part I "Motor cycles" and substituting "Motor bikes";(e) by omitting from the first column of Part I "Motor cycle" and substituting "Motor bike".

These regulations amend the Environment Protection (Noise) Regulations 1977 consequential on the enactment of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .
