Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Amendment Regulations 2000

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Dangerous Goods Act 1998 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Amendment Regulations 2000 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 commences.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Regulations 1998 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 215 amended (Required driving licence evidence [18.7])

Regulation 215 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:

(a) by omitting from subregulation (1) "as driving licence evidence" and substituting "as driver licence evidence";

(b) by omitting from subregulation (2)(a) "driving licences register" and substituting "register of driver licences";

(c) by omitting from subregulation (3)(a) "driving licences register" and substituting "register of driver licences".

5.    Regulation 218 amended (Applications for licences [18.10])

Regulation 218(2)(a) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "driving licence evidence" and substituting "driver licence evidence".

6.    Regulation 220 amended (Applications for renewal of licences [18.12])

Regulation 220(2)(a) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "driving licence evidence" and substituting "driver licence evidence".

7.    Schedule 3 amended (Dictionary)

Clause 1 of Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of driving licence and substituting the following definition:

driver licence means an Australian driver licence within the meaning of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 other than a learner or provisional licence within the meaning of that Act;

8.   Substitutions

Each of the provisions of the Principal Regulations specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting "driving licence" on the number of occurrences specified in Column 2 of that Schedule and substituting "driver licence".

These regulations amend the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Regulations 1998 consequential on the enactment of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .
