Vehicle and Traffic Amendment Act 2019
An Act to amend the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999

Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic Amendment Act 2019 .
This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.
In this Act, the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 is referred to as the Principal Act.
4. Section 5 substituted
Section 5 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section is substituted:(1) The Minister may appoint to be the Registrar of Motor Vehicles a person who is a State Service officer or State Service employee.(2) The Registrar may hold that office in conjunction with State Service employment.(3) A person who, immediately before the commencement of the Vehicle and Traffic Amendment Act 2019, held the office of Registrar continues to hold that office on the same terms and conditions as set out in his or her instrument of appointment.
This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of the day on which it commenced.
