Repeal of Regulations Postponement Act 2006

An Act to postpone the repeal of certain regulations

[Royal Assent 1 November 2006]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1.   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Repeal of Regulations Postponement Act 2006 .

2.   Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

3.   Postponement of repeals

(1)  The staged repeals of the regulations and by-laws specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 that, but for this section, were to have been effected on the respective dates specified in column 2 of that Schedule are postponed until 1 January 2008.
(2)  Subsection (1) does not prevent any of the regulations and by-laws specified in Schedule 1 from being repealed before 1 January 2008.
(3)  In this section –
staged repeals means repeals effected by section 11 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992 .

4.   Administration of Act

Until provision is made in relation to this Act by order under section 4 of the Administrative Arrangements Act 1990  –
(a) the administration of this Act is assigned to the Minister for Energy; and
(b) the department responsible to that Minister in relation to the administration of this Act is the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

5.   Expiry

This Act expires on 2 January 2008.
