Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Amendment (Public Vehicles Reform) Act 2000
An Act to amend the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995
[Royal Assent 14 July 2000]
Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Amendment (Public Vehicles Reform) Act 2000 .
This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent or on the day on which the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 commences, whichever is later.
In this Act, the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 is referred to as the Principal Act.
4. Section 3 amended (Interpretation)
Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following definition after the definition of perpetual taxi licence :registered operator means a registered operator within the meaning of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ;
5. Section 23A amended (Interpretation of Part)
Section 23A of the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by omitting the definition of limited passenger service and substituting the following definition:limited passenger service means a limited passenger service within the meaning of the Passenger Transport Act 1997 ;(b) by omitting the definition of motor vehicle and substituting the following definition:motor vehicle means a motor vehicle within the meaning of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ;(c) by omitting the definition of registered and substituting the following definition:registered means registered under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ;
6. Section 23B amended (Luxury hire car licences)
Section 23B(3) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting " Traffic Act 1925 " and substituting " Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 ".
7. Section 23C amended (Applications for licences)
Section 23C(1) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting "owner" (twice occurring) and substituting "operator".
8. Section 23F amended (Transfer of licences)
Section 23F(2)(c) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting "owner" (twice occurring) and substituting "operator".
