Traffic (Repeal of Regulations Postponement) Act 2000

An Act to postpone the repeal of certain regulations under the Traffic Act 1925

[Royal Assent 29 June 2000]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1.   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Traffic (Repeal of Regulations Postponement) Act 2000 .

2.   Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

3.   Postponement of repeal of regulations

(1)  The repeal of the Traffic (General and Local) Regulations 1956 that, but for this subsection, was to have been effected on 1 July 2000 under section 11 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992 is postponed until 1 January 2002.
(2)  The repeal of the Traffic (Miscellaneous) Regulations 1968 that, but for this subsection, was to have been effected on 1 January 2001 under section 11 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992 is postponed until 1 January 2002.
(3)  The repeal of the Traffic (Vehicle Loads and Dimensions) Regulations 1975 that, but for this subsection, was to have been effected on 1 January 2001 under section 11 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992 is postponed until 1 January 2002.

4.   Expiry of Act

This Act expires on 2 January 2002.

5.   Administration of Act

Until provision is made in relation to this Act by order under section 4 of the Administrative Arrangements Act 1990  –
(a) the administration of this Act is assigned to the Minister for Infrastructure, Energy and Resources; and
(b) the department responsible to the Minister for Infrastructure, Energy and Resources in relation to the administration of this Act is the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.
