Defamation Order 2026

I make the following order under section 35(3) of the Defamation Act 2005 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Defamation Order 2026 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on 1 July 2026.

3.   Maximum damages amount

For the purposes of section 35(1) of the Defamation Act 2005 , the maximum damages amount that is to apply from 1 July 2026 is declared to be $520 000.
