Police Powers (Assumed Identities) (Corresponding Laws) Regulations 2021

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Police Powers (Assumed Identities) Act 2006 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Police Powers (Assumed Identities) (Corresponding Laws) Regulations 2021 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Corresponding laws

For the purposes of the definition of corresponding law in section 3 of the Police Powers (Assumed Identities) Act 2006 , the following laws of other jurisdictions are declared to correspond to that Act:
(a) Crimes (Assumed Identities) Act 2009 of the Australian Capital Territory;
(b) Law Enforcement and National Security (Assumed Identities) Act 2010 of New South Wales;
(c) Part 3 of the Police (Special Investigative and Other Powers) Act 2015 of the Northern Territory;
(d) Chapter 12 of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 of Queensland;
(e) Part 3 of the Criminal Investigation (Covert Operations) Act 2009 of South Australia;
(f) Crimes (Assumed Identities) Act 2004 of Victoria;
(g) Part 3 of the Criminal Investigation (Covert Powers) Act 2012 of Western Australia;
(h) Part IAC of the Crimes Act 1914 of the Commonwealth.

4.   Legislation rescinded

The legislation specified in Schedule 1 is rescinded.
