Threatened Species Protection Order (No. 2) 2026
I make the following order under section 13(5) of the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 .

This order may be cited as the Threatened Species Protection Order (No. 2) 2026 .
This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.
In this order, the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 is referred to as the Principal Act.
4. Schedule 3 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are endangered)
Part 1 of Schedule 3 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by adding after item 17 in the table headed Birds in Subdivision 1 of Division 1 the following item:

(b) by adding after item 5A in Subdivision 1 of Division 2 the following item:

(c) by adding after item 16 in Subdivision 2 of Division 2 the following item:

5. Schedule 4 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are vulnerable)
Schedule 4 to the Principal Act is amended by adding after item 1 in Subdivision 2 of Division 1 of Part 1 the following item:

6. Schedule 5 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are rare)
Schedule 5 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by omitting item 24 from Division 2 of Part 1 ;(b) by adding after item 54 in Division 2 of Part 1 the following item:

(c) by omitting item 63 from Division 1 of Part 2 ;(d) by omitting item 68 from Division 1 of Part 2 ;(e) by omitting item 98 from Division 1 of Part 2 ;(f) by omitting item 140 from Division 1 of Part 2 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the order)
This order amends the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 by –(a) adding certain taxa to, and omitting certain taxa from, the Schedules specifying endangered, vulnerable and rare native flora and fauna; and(b) amending the scientific name for a taxon listed in the Schedule specifying rare native flora and fauna.
