State Service (Restructuring) Order 2026
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister, make the following order under section 11 of the State Service Act 2000 .

This order may be cited as the State Service (Restructuring) Order 2026 .
(1) Except as provided in this clause, the provisions of this order take effect on 2 July 2026.(2) Clause 5 takes effect on 16 July 2026.(3) Clause 6 takes effect on 30 July 2026.
3. Change of name of Department of State Growth
The name of the Government department known as the Department of State Growth is changed to Building Tasmania.
4. Amalgamation with Department of Health
The following parts of the Department of Premier and Cabinet are amalgamated with the Department of Health:(a) the part known as Disability Services and Reform;(b) the Office of the Disability Commissioner.
5. Amalgamation with Department of Justice
The following parts of the Department of Premier and Cabinet are amalgamated with the Department of Justice:(a) the Office of Local Government;(b) the Family and Sexual Safety Secretariat.
6. Amalgamation with Department for Education, Children and Young People
The part of the Department of Premier and Cabinet known as the Commission of Inquiry Taskforce is amalgamated with the Department for Education, Children and Young People.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the order)
This order effects a restructuring of the State Service by –(a) renaming the Department of State Growth as Building Tasmania; and(b) amalgamating certain parts of the Department of Premier and Cabinet with the Departments specified in this Order.
