Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2026

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2026 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on 1 August 2026.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 19 amended (Taking fish from watercraft)

Regulation 19(5) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from paragraph (c) "Reservoir." and substituting "Reservoir;";
(b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (c) :
(d) in the body of water located at grid reference 509830E 5298957N (commonly known as Den Dam).

5.    Regulation 21 amended (Use of baits and lures)

Regulation 21 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from subregulation (3)(q) "Lake." and substituting "Lake;";
(b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (q) in subregulation (3) :
(r) the body of water located at grid reference 509830E 5298957N (commonly known as Den Dam).
(c) by inserting the following subregulation after subregulation (3) :
(3A)  A person must not take fish from Den Dam, as specified in subregulation (3) , except by means of single barbless hooks.
Penalty:  Fine of not less than 1 penalty unit and not more than 5 penalty units and a special penalty of 1 penalty unit for each fish.

6.    Schedule 3 substituted

Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is rescinded and the following Schedule is substituted:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019 by –
(a) providing for the regulation of the new public fishery at Den Dam; and
(b) substituting Schedule 3 to those regulations and inserting a bag limit in respect of Den Dam and Lake Waverly.
