Threatened Species Protection Order 2026
I make the following order under section 13(5) of the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 .

This order may be cited as the Threatened Species Protection Order 2026 .
This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.
In this order, the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 is referred to as the Principal Act.
4. Schedule 3 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are endangered)
Schedule 3 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by omitting item 3 from the table headed Birds in Subdivision 1 of Division 1 of Part 1 ;(b) by adding after item 5 in the table headed Birds in Subdivision 1 of Division 1 of Part 1 the following item:

(c) by adding after item 7 in the table headed Birds in Subdivision 1 of Division 1 of Part 1 the following item:

Schedule 4 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by omitting item 1 from Subdivision 2 of Division 1 of Part 1 and substituting the following items:

Schedule 5 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:(a) by omitting item 41 from Division 2 of Part 1 ;(b) by omitting items 104 and 105 from Division 1 of Part 2 and substituting the following items:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order amends the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 by –(a) adding certain species to, and omitting a species from, the Schedules of endangered, vulnerable and rare native flora and fauna; and(b) amending certain items in the Schedules to update taxonomic and authority references and common names.
