Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Regulations 2026

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Act 2016 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Regulations 2026 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Declaration of interstate DVO

For the purposes of section 6(1)(h) of the Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Act 2016 , a police protection direction under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 of Queensland is declared to be an interstate DVO.

4.   Legislation rescinded

The legislation specified in Schedule 1 is rescinded.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations –
(a) for the purposes of the Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Act 2016 , declare a police protection direction of Queensland to be an interstate DVO; and
(b) rescind the Domestic Violence Orders (National Recognition) Regulations 2017.
