Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2025

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2025 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 15 amended (Minimum size limits)

Regulation 15 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting paragraph (c) from subregulation (4) ;
(b) by omitting paragraph (d) from subregulation (7) and adding the following paragraphs:
(d) Lake Tin Hut;
(e) Lake Crescent waters.
(c) by omitting from subregulation (8) "yingina/Great Lake" and adding "Yingina / Great Lake".

5.    Regulation 16 amended (Daily bag limit for salmon from certain waters)

Regulation 16(2) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (c) .

6.    Regulation 17 amended (Bag limits)

Regulation 17 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from subregulation (3) "10 bream" and adding "5 bream";
(b) by omitting from subregulation (7) "yingina/Great Lake" and adding "Yingina / Great Lake".

7.    Regulation 21 amended (Use of baits and lures)

Regulation 21 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting "yingina/Great Lake" from the definition of Canal Bay in subregulation (1) and adding "Yingina / Great Lake";
(b) by omitting "yingina/Great Lake" from the definition of Tods Corner in subregulation (1) and adding "Yingina / Great Lake";
(c) by omitting from subregulation (3)(c) "yingina/Great Lake" and adding "Yingina / Great Lake".

8.    Schedule 1 amended (Waters for Taking Indigenous Fish)

Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting "Great Musselroe River" from column 2 of item 17 in the table and adding "Larnerrangener / Great Musselroe River";
(b) by omitting "Polelewawta/Little Forester River" from column 2 of item 22 in the table and adding "Polelewawta / Little Forester River";
(c) by omitting "Leengtenner/Tomahawk River" from column 2 of item 34 in the table and adding "Leengtenner / Tomahawk River".

9.    Schedule 2 amended (Junior Angling Development Fishery)

Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting item 2 .

10.    Schedule 3 amended (Bag Limits)

Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting item 30 and adding the following item:

11.    Schedule 4 amended (Daily Bag Limits for Salmon from Certain Waters)

Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by inserting after item 23 the following item:

(b) by omitting item 30 ;
(c) by omitting item 40 .

12.    Schedule 5 amended (Fees)

Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting in column 2 of paragraph (j) of item 1 in Part 1 "(e)," after "(d),".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019  by –
(a) altering certain locations where certain types of fishing are permitted; and
(b) altering certain bag and size limits in certain locations; and
(c) providing for dual naming of the Great Musselroe River; and
(d) removing a certain water body from the junior angling development fishery; and
(e) imposing a fee on certain persons in respect of an angling licence; and
(f) effecting minor statute law revision.
