Building Amendment Regulations 2024
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Building Act 2016 .

These regulations may be cited as the Building Amendment Regulations 2024 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Building Regulations 2016 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 82A inserted
After regulation 82 of the Principal Regulations , the following regulation is inserted in Part 9:82A. Livable housing design and National Construction Code
(1) In this regulation livable housing design determination means a determination, as in effect from time to time, made by the Director of Building Control in respect of livable housing design standards for work performed in respect of buildings or structures.(2) For the purposes of the Act, a building, or work, is taken to comply with the requirements of Part H8 of the National Construction Code if the building, or work, satisfies the requirements, relevant to that building, or work, set out in the livable housing design determination.(3) For the avoidance of doubt, Part H8 of the NCC does not apply to a building, or work, that meets the requirements of this regulation.

These regulations amend the Building Regulations 2016 by providing that buildings that comply with the livable housing design determination of the Director of Building Control are taken to comply with the requirements of Part H8 of the National Construction Code.
