Proclamation under the Roads and Jetties Act 1935

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, by this my proclamation made under section 7 of the Roads and Jetties Act 1935  –

(a) declare the portions of the roads specified in Schedule 1 to this proclamation to be State highways for the purposes of Part II of that Act; and
(b) amend the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1970, No. 67, by omitting from the First Schedule to that proclamation the item relating to the West Tamar Highway and substituting the following item:

(a) from the western boundary of Wellington Street, via Brisbane Street and York Street, to the western boundary of Margaret Street, Launceston; and

 
 

(b) from the western boundary of Margaret Street, via West Tamar Road, Launceston, to the Launceston City boundary at Trevallyn (portion of which is shown as the shaded area, bounded by black lines, on Plan 11396 in the Central Plan Register, a copy of which is set out, by way of illustration only, in Schedule 2 to this proclamation); and

29.36 (47.25 kilometres)

 

(c) from West Tamar Road at the Launceston City boundary, at Trevallyn, to Inspection Head at Beauty Point, via Legana, Exeter and Beaconsfield

 
(c) revoke the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1979, No. 190, to the extent that the proclamation relates to the West Tamar Highway; and
(d) declare that this proclamation takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This proclamation –
(a) declares portions of certain roads to be State highways; and
(b) amends a prior proclamation (Statutory Rules 1970, No. 67) by redefining the West Tamar Highway; and
(c) partially revokes a certain spent proclamation in respect of the West Tamar Highway.
