Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2023
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 .

These regulations may be cited as the Inland Fisheries Amendment Regulations 2023 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting the definition of Camden Dam and substituting the following definition:Camden Lake means the water body located at grid reference 539933 5424268 (commonly known as Camden Lake);(b) by omitting the definition of South Riana Dam and substituting the following definition:South Riana Lake means the water body located at grid reference 411128 5434847 (commonly known as South Riana Lake);
5. Regulation 14 amended (Unattended equipment)
Regulation 14(b) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "bait and lures" and substituting "bait or lure".
6. Regulation 15 amended (Minimum size limits)
Regulation 15(8) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "Great Lake" and substituting "yingina/Great Lake".
7. Regulation 17 amended (Bag limits)
Regulation 17(7) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "Great Lake" and substituting "yingina/Great Lake".
8. Regulation 19 amended (Taking fish from watercraft)
Regulation 19 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting paragraph (e) from the definition of restricted waters in subregulation (1) and substituting the following paragraphs:(e) Talbots Lagoon;(f) Camden Lake;(g) South Riana Lake.(b) by inserting in subregulation (3) "or Lake Mikany" after "Reservoir";(c) by omitting paragraph (a) from subregulation (5) and substituting the following paragraph:(a) in Brumbys Creek, including any impounded water and any tributary or tailrace entering the creek above the uppermost of the 3 weirs on that creek; or
9. Regulation 21 amended (Use of baits and lures)
Regulation 21 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting "the Great Lake" from the definition of Canal Bay in subregulation (1) and substituting "yingina/Great Lake";(b) by omitting "the Great Lake" from the definition of Tods Corner in subregulation (1) and substituting "yingina/Great Lake";(c) by omitting paragraph (a) from subregulation (3) ;(d) by omitting from subregulation (3)(c) "the Great Lake" and substituting "yingina/Great Lake";(e) by omitting paragraph (e) from subregulation (3) ;(f) by omitting paragraph (g) from subregulation (3) ;(g) by omitting paragraph (b) from subregulation (4) .
10. Regulation 23 amended (Use of nets)
Regulation 23(3)(a)(i) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting " Fisheries Rules 2009 " and substituting " Fisheries Rules 2019 ".
11. Regulation 24 amended (Use of nets and traps for commercial purposes)
Regulation 24(2)(a)(i) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting " Fisheries Rules 2009 " and substituting " Fisheries Rules 2019 ".
12. Schedule 1 amended (Waters for Taking Indigenous Fish)
Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by inserting after item 1 the following item:

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Inland Fisheries Regulations 2019 by (a) altering certain locations where certain types of fishing are permitted; and(b) providing for dual naming of certain locations; and(c) changing the names of certain bodies of water; and(d) updating references to superseded legislation; and(e) changing the eligibility of certain persons to pay a reduced fee when applying for an additional rod and line for an angling licence.
