Threatened Species Protection Order 2023

I make the following order under section 13(5) of the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Threatened Species Protection Order 2023 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Act

In this order, the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 is referred to as the Principal Act.

4.    Schedule 3 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are endangered)

Schedule 3 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:
(a) by adding, after item 27A in Subdivision 2 of Division 1, Part 1 the following item:

27AB. 

Parvulastra vivipara

(Dartnell), Asterinidae

Live-bearing Seastar

(b) by inserting the following table after the table headed "Birds" in Subdivision 1 of Division 1, Part 2 :

5.    Schedule 4 amended (Taxa of native flora and fauna which are vulnerable)

Schedule 4 to the Principal Act is amended by omitting item 19A from Division 2 of Part 1 .

This order is administered in the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order amends the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 by –
(a) amending the status of a certain species by omitting that species from the Schedule of vulnerable native flora and fauna and adding that species to the Schedule of endangered native flora and fauna; and
(b) adding a certain species to the Schedule of endangered native flora and fauna.
