Burial and Cremation Amendment Regulations 2022
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Burial and Cremation Act 2019 .

These regulations may be cited as the Burial and Cremation Amendment Regulations 2022 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Burial and Cremation Regulations 2015 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting "but does not include a death that is, by virtue of section 93(2) of the End-of-Life-Choices (Voluntary Assisted Dying) Act 2021, not a reportable death for the purposes of the Coroners Act 1995 " after " Coroners Act 1995 " in the definition of reportable death .
5. Regulation 7 amended (Action to be taken by medical practitioner after attending place of death)
Regulation 7(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:(c) notify a police officer or a coroner of the death, if the medical practitioner believes that the death is a reportable death.
6. Regulation 9 amended (Action to be taken by responsible persons, midwives and police officers after attending place of death)
Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting paragraph (b) from subregulation (1) and substituting the following paragraph:(b) notify a police officer or a coroner of the death, if the responsible person believes that the death is a reportable death.(b) by omitting paragraph (b) from subregulation (3) and substituting the following paragraph:(b) is to notify a police officer or a coroner of the death, if the nurse or office of the Ambulance Service believes that the death is a reportable death.

These regulations amend the Burial and Cremation Regulations 2015 to amend the definition of reportable death and to remove certain references to deaths that may not have been due to natural causes.
