Local Government (General) Amendment Regulations (No. 3) 2018

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Local Government Act 1993 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Local Government (General) Amendment Regulations (No. 3) 2018 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Local Government (General) Regulations 2015 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 42 amended (Allowances for elected members)

Regulation 42 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after subregulation (2) the following subregulation:
(2A)  If a deputy mayor is appointed to act in the role of mayor for a period of 4 consecutive weeks or more, the deputy mayor is entitled to receive, for that period, the allowance payable to the mayor.

These regulations amend the Local Government (General) Regulations 2015 to provide for the payment of an allowance to the deputy mayor when acting in the role of mayor for 4 consecutive weeks or more.
