Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work) Amendment Regulations 2018
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Occupational Licensing Act 2005 .

These regulations may be cited as the Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work) Amendment Regulations 2018 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work) Regulations 2008 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 4 amended (Meaning of electrical work)
Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from subregulation (1)(d) "work." and substituting "work;";(b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (d) in subregulation (1) :(e) work on a battery, or other electricity storage system, that is –or that is work on fittings, equipment, or accessories, associated with such a battery or other electricity storage system.(i) installed, stationary or fixed in position; and(ii) for the purpose of supplying electricity to an electrical installation –(c) by omitting paragraph (c) from subregulation (2) and substituting the following paragraph:(c) extra low voltage electrical work if the work is performed on –(i) an electrical installation that is –and the work is not work specified in subregulation (1)(e) ; or(A) compliant with the standard relevant to that electrical installation; and(B) located in an area that is not a hazardous area –(ii) a portable electronic device or remote control; or(iii) the electrical supply system for a vehicle or vessel; or(iv) a train.(d) by omitting from subregulation (2)(f) "earth." and substituting "earth; or";(e) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (f) in subregulation (2) :(g) electrical work performed on an aircraft.(f) by inserting the following subregulation after subregulation (2) :(3) In this regulation –electrical supply system means a system for the supply of electricity for the starting or propulsion of, or operation of the electrical accessories of, a vehicle or vessel, but does not include a system, for the supply of electricity, that is installed in the vehicle or vessel solely for activities unrelated to the use of the vehicle or vessel as a means of transport.
5. Regulation 28 amended (Infringement notices)
Regulation 28 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulation (3) .
6. Schedule 2 amended (Offences and Penalties for Infringement Notices and Demerit Points)
Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from the heading "AND DEMERIT POINTS";(b) by omitting the table from Part 1 and substituting the following table:

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work) Regulations 2008 by –(a) including in the definition of electrical work work on batteries and other electricity storage systems that are permanent fixtures; and(b) further clarifying certain types of work that are not electrical work for the purposes of those regulations; and(c) removing references to demerit points from those regulations.
