Relationships Amendment Regulations 2016
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Relationships Act 2003 .

These regulations may be cited as the Relationships Amendment Regulations 2016 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Relationships Regulations 2013 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 8 amended (Corresponding laws for purpose of section 65A of Act)
Regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from paragraph (s) "Canada." and substituting "Canada;";(b) by inserting the following paragraphs after paragraph (s) :(t) Marriage Act 1955 of New Zealand;(u) Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 of the United Kingdom;(v) Marriage Act 2015 of the Republic of Ireland.
5. Regulation 9 amended (Classes of relationships for purpose of section 65A of Act)
Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting from paragraph (u) "Canada." and substituting "Canada;";(b) by inserting the following paragraphs after paragraph (u) :(v) marriage of two people, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity, under the Marriage Act 1955 of New Zealand;(w) marriage of same sex couples under the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 of the United Kingdom;(x) marriage of two persons, without distinction as to their sex, under the Marriage Act 2015 of the Republic of Ireland.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Relationships Regulations 2013 to prescribe (a) the following classes of relationships for the purpose of section 65A(1) of the Relationships Act 2003 :(i) marriage of two people, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity, under the Marriage Act 1955 of New Zealand;(ii) marriage of same sex couples under the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 of the United Kingdom;(iii) marriage of two persons, without distinction as to their sex, under the Marriage Act 2015 of the Republic of Ireland; and(b) the following laws as corresponding laws for the purpose of section 65A(2) of the Relationships Act 2003 :(i) Marriage Act 1955 of New Zealand;(ii) Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 of the United Kingdom;(iii) Marriage Act 2015 of the Republic of Ireland.
