I make the following order under section 35(3) of the Defamation Act 2005 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Defamation Order 2015 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on 1 July 2015.

3.   Maximum damages amount

For the purposes of section 35(1) of the Defamation Act 2005 , the maximum damages amount that is to apply from 1 July 2015 is declared to be $367 500.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order declares, for the purposes of section 35(1) of the Defamation Act 2005 , $367 500 to be the maximum amount of damages for non-economic loss that may be awarded from 1 July 2015 in defamation proceedings.
