Nature Conservation (Open Seasons) Amendment Order 2013

I make the following order under section 30(1) of the Nature Conservation Act 2002 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Open Seasons) Amendment Order 2013 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Order

In this order, the Nature Conservation (Open Seasons) Order 2004 is referred to as the Principal Order.

4.    Clause 7 substituted

Clause 7 of the Principal Order is revoked and the following clause is substituted:

7.   Open season for brown quail

The open season for brown quail in each year commences on the Saturday nearest 15 May of the year and ends on the seventh Sunday following that Saturday.

This order is administered in the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order amends the Nature Conservation (Open Seasons) Order 2004 by –
(a) removing any reference to location in relation to the open season for brown quail with the result that brown quail may be taken from all of the State; and
(b) by delaying the opening of the open season for brown quail by 2 weeks and providing that the season lasts for 6 weeks instead of 4 weeks.
