Inland Fisheries (Recreational Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2012

I, the Administrator in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Inland Fisheries (Recreational Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2012 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Inland Fisheries (Recreational Fishing) Regulations 2009 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Schedule 4 amended (Infringement Notice Offences)

Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting

taking more than 1kg of whitebait in one day – regulation 20(a)

and substituting:

taking more than 2kg of whitebait in one day – regulation 20(a)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Inland Fisheries (Recreational Fishing) Regulations 2009 to update the reference to regulation 20(a) , specified in Column 1 of Schedule 4 to those regulations as an offence in respect of which an infringement notice may be issued, by increasing the maximum daily catch limit, in respect of whitebait licence holders catching whitebait, from one kilogram to 2 kilograms of whitebait.
