Relationships Amendment Regulations 2012

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Relationships Act 2003 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Relationships Amendment Regulations 2012 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Relationships Regulations 2003 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 7A amended (Corresponding laws for purpose of section 65A of Act)

Regulation 7A of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (b) :
(ba) Civil Partnerships Act 2011 of Queensland;
(b) by omitting from paragraph (q) "Vital Statistic Act" and substituting "Vital Statistics Act".

5.    Regulation 7B amended (Classes of relationships for purpose of section 65A of Act)

Regulation 7B of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "territory" and substituting "Territory";
(b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (b) :
(ba) registered civil partnerships within the meaning of the Civil Partnerships Act 2011 of Queensland;
(c) by omitting from paragraph (g) "Colombia" and substituting "Columbia";
(d) by omitting from paragraph (p) "if" and substituting "of".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Relationships Regulations 2003 by –
(a) providing an additional corresponding law and class of relationships for the purposes of section 65A of the Relationships Act 2003 ; and
(b) effecting minor statute law revision.
