General Fire Amendment Regulations 2012

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the State Fire Commission, make the following regulations under section 133 of the Fire Service Act 1979 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the General Fire Amendment Regulations 2012 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the General Fire Regulations 2010 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 5 amended (Meaning of "specified building")

Regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (h) in subregulation (1) :
(ha) education and care service premises for any education and care service other than a family day care service;
(b) by inserting the following subregulation after subregulation (1) :
(1A)  For the purposes of subregulation (1)(ha) , "education and care service", "education and care service premises" and "family day care service" have the same meanings as in the Education and Care Services National Law (Tasmania).

5.   Rescission of regulations

These regulations are rescinded on the one hundred and eightieth day from the day on which they take effect.

These regulations amend the General Fire Regulations 2010 by providing that certain education and care service premises, within the meaning of the Education and Care Services National Law (Tasmania), are specified buildings.
