I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Witness (Identity Protection) Act 2006 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Witness (Identity Protection) (Corresponding Laws) Regulations 2010 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Interpretation

In these regulations –
Act means the Witness (Identity Protection) Act 2006 .

4.   Corresponding laws

For the purposes of the definition of "corresponding law" in section 3(1) of the Act, the following laws of other jurisdictions are declared to correspond to the Act:
(a) Division 5 of Part 2 of the Evidence Act 1977 of Queensland;
(b) Part 4 of the Criminal Investigation (Covert Operations) Act 2009 of South Australia;
(c) Part IIAA of the Evidence (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1958 of Victoria.

These regulations declare certain laws of other jurisdictions to correspond to the Witness (Identity Protection) Act 2006 .
