Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Amendment Regulations 2008
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Act 1991 .

These regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Amendment Regulations 2008 .
These regulations take effect on 1 July 2009.
In these regulations, the Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Regulations 2004 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 4 amended (Meaning of eligible pensioner)
Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (b) in the definition of eligible pensioner in subregulation (1) :(ba) a person who holds a current health care card; or(b) by inserting the following definition before the definition of pensioner concession card in subregulation (2) :health care card means a health care card (a) within the meaning of the Social Security Act 1991 of the Commonwealth; and(b) issued to a person eligible under that Act;

These regulations amend the Local Government (Rates and Charges Remissions) Regulations 2004 by updating the definition of "eligible person" to include a person who holds a current health care card.
