Health (Fees) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2007

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Health Act 1997 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Health (Fees) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2007 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on 1 January 2008.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Health (Fees) Regulations 2007 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Schedule 1 amended (Fees payable by non-nursing-home-type patients)

Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting "diagnostic imaging" from column 2 of item 5 in Part 1 and substituting "medical";
(b) by omitting "diagnostic imaging" from column 2 of item 6 in Part 1 and substituting "pathology";
(c) by inserting after item 7 in Part 1 the following:

For the supply of a pharmaceutical item to a compensable patient or an ineligible person

optional fee (not exceeding the cost of providing the item)

(d) by omitting "medical" from column 2 of item 4 in Part 2 and substituting "pathology";
(e) by omitting "medical" from column 2 of item 5 in Part 2 and substituting "diagnostic imaging";
(f) by omitting paragraphs (a) , (b) and (c) from item 6 in Part 2 and substituting the following:
 

(a) a person who holds a valid Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Seniors Health Card

$5.00 (each item) if the concessional beneficiary safety net is not reached

no fee (for any item) if the concessional beneficiary safety net is reached

 

(b) a person who holds a valid White Card, Gold Card or Orange Card

$5.00 (each item) if the concessional beneficiary safety net is not reached

no fee (for any item) if the concessional beneficiary safety net is reached

 

(c) a compensable patient or an ineligible person

optional fee (not exceeding the cost of providing the item)

 

(d) any other person

a maximum of $25.00 (each item) if the general patient safety net is not reached

$5.00 (each item) if the general patient safety net is reached

These regulations amend the Health (Fees) Regulations 2007 by –
(a) increasing the fees for the supply of pharmaceutical items to certain patients; and
(b) updating certain terms.
