Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 2006

I make the following order under section 3 of the Poisons Act 1971 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 2006 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Order

In this order, the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990 is referred to as the Principal Order.

4.   Schedule 1 amended (Prohibited substances)

Schedule 1 to the Principal Order is amended as follows:
(a) by inserting after item 28 the following item:
28AA.   N,α-dimethyl-3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenylethylamine (otherwise known as MDMA).
28AB.   N,N-dimethylamphetamine (Dimetamfetamine).
(b) by inserting after item 48A the following item:
48AB.   N-methyl-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2-butanamine (otherwise known as MBDB).
(c) by omitting items 59EA and 59EB.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order amends the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990 by –
(a) adding N,N-dimethylamphetamine (Dimetamfetamine) to the list of prohibited substances; and
(b) correcting the alphabetical listing of certain substances.
