Libraries Amendment Regulations 2003

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Libraries Act 1984 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Libraries Amendment Regulations 2003 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Libraries Regulations 2002 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 4 amended (Application for Librarycard)

Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from subregulation (3) "is less than 18 years of age" and substituting "has not attained the age of 18 years";
(b) by inserting the following subregulation after subregulation (3) :
(4)  Subregulation (3) does not apply if the applicant referred to in that subregulation has attained the age of 16 years and is not under the care or control of any adult person.

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Libraries Regulations 2002 by providing that a person who is less than 18 years old may apply for a librarycard without a guarantor if he or she is at least 16 years old and is independent.
