Inland Fisheries (Destruction of Controlled Fish) Amendment Order 2003

I make the following order under section 152 of the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Inland Fisheries (Destruction of Controlled Fish) Amendment Order 2003 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Order

In this order, the Inland Fisheries (Destruction of Controlled Fish) Order 1996 is referred to as the Principal Order.

4.    Clause 4 substituted

Clause 4 of the Principal Order is revoked and the following clause is substituted:

4.   Destruction of controlled fish

The Director is authorised to destroy controlled fish in either or both of the following manners:
(a) adding any, or any combination, of the following to the inland waters in which the fish are believed to occur:
(i) Rotenone;
(ii) Alphamethrin;
(iii) Endosulfan;
(iv) Calcium hydroxide;
(b) draining inland waters.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order amends the Inland Fisheries (Destruction of Controlled Fish) Order 1996 by authorising the Director to destroy controlled fish by –
(a) adding certain substances to the waters in which they occur; or
(b) draining inland waters.
