Firearms Amendment Regulations 2003
I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Firearms Act 1996 .

These regulations may be cited as the Firearms Amendment Regulations 2003 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Firearms Regulations 1996 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulations 4A and 4B inserted
After regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations , the following regulations are inserted:For the purpose of the definition of "prohibited pistol" in section 3 of the Act, the following pistols are prescribed as prohibited pistols:(a) a pistol that exceeds .38 inch calibre;(b) a semi-automatic pistol that has a barrel length of less than 120 millimetres;(c) a revolver that has a barrel length of less than 100 millimetres;(d) a single-shot pistol that has a barrel length of less than 100 millimetres;(e) a pistol that has a magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds.For the purpose of section 18(4) and section 58A of the Act, the following are prescribed events:(a) Western (Single) Action Event;(b) Metallic Silhouette Event.

These regulations amend the Firearms Regulations 1996 by (a) prescribing certain pistols as prohibited pistols; and(b) prescribing certain events at which prohibited pistols may be used.
