Local Government Amendment Regulations 2002

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Local Government Act 1993 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Local Government Amendment Regulations 2002 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Local Government Regulations 1994 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 36 inserted

After regulation 35 of the Principal Regulations , the following regulation is inserted in Part 4:

36.   Prescribed newspapers

For the purposes of clause 5 of Schedule 4 to the Act, the following newspapers are prescribed newspapers:
(a) the "King Island Courier" for the municipal area of King Island;
(b) the "Island News" for the municipal area of Flinders.

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

These regulations are administered in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Local Government Regulations 1994 by prescribing, for the purposes of clause 5 of Schedule 4 to the Local Government Act 1993 , the "King Island Courier" and the "Island News" as newspapers within the municipal area of King Island and the municipal area of Flinders respectively.
