Fisheries (Mackerel) Amendment Rules 2002
I make the following rules under the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 .

These rules may be cited as the Fisheries (Mackerel) Amendment Rules 2002 .
These rules take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these rules, the Fisheries (Mackerel) Rules 1999 are referred to as the Principal Rules.
4. Rule 3 amended (Interpretation)
Rule 3(1) of the Principal Rules is amended by omitting " Fisheries (Penalty) Regulations 1996 " from the definition of Penalty Regulations and substituting " Fisheries Penalties Regulations 2001 ".
5. Rule 4 substituted
Rule 4 of the Principal Rules is rescinded and the following rule is substituted:These rules continue in force until 31 December 2007.
6. Rule 10 amended (Prohibition and restriction on use of fishing gear)
Rule 10 of the Principal Rules is amended by omitting " Part 5 of the Fisheries (Scalefish) Rules 1998 " and substituting " Part 5 of the Fisheries (Scalefish) Rules 2001".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the rule)
These rules amend the Fisheries (Mackerel) Rules 1999 by –(a) providing that the rules will remain in force until 31 December 2007; and(b) updating some legislative references.
