State Service Amendment Regulations 2002
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the State Service Act 2000 .

These regulations may be cited as the State Service Amendment Regulations 2002 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the State Service Regulations 2001 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 29 amended (Studentships)
Regulation 29(12)(b)(i) of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting "and charges" after "fees".
5. Regulation 33 amended (Study assistance)
Regulation 33 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by inserting in subregulation (1)(a) "and charges" after "fees";(b) by inserting in subregulation (1)(c) "and charges" after "fees";(c) by inserting in subregulation (1)(d) "and charges" after "fees";(d) by inserting in subregulation (1)(d) "but not including any Higher Education Contribution Scheme charge relating to that course" after "study";(e) by inserting the following subregulations after subregulation (1) :(1A) An employee referred to in subregulation (1) may apply in writing to the relevant Head of Agency for approval to be paid an amount equivalent to any Higher Education Contribution Scheme charge relating to the approved course of study.(1B) If the relevant Head of Agency approves an application for study assistance under subregulation (1A) the Head of Agency may authorise the reimbursement to the employee of the Higher Education Contribution Scheme charge.(f) by inserting in subregulation (2)(a) "and charges" after "fees";(g) by inserting in subregulation (2)(c) "and charges" after "fees";(h) by inserting in subregulation (4)(b) "and charges" after "fees".

These regulations amend the State Service Regulations 2001 by giving Heads of Agencies the discretion to approve the payment of the Higher Education Contribution Scheme charge in relation to approved courses of study.
