Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Amendment Regulations 2001
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act 1997 .

These regulations may be cited as the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Amendment Regulations 2001 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 8 amended (Requirement to hold insurance)
Regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulation (3) and substituting the following subregulations:(3) An electrical contractor's licence is not to be issued or renewed unless the Regulator is satisfied that (a) the applicant holds a current policy of insurance as required by subregulation (1) ; and(b) the term of the policy extends into, for or beyond the term for which the licence is sought to be issued or renewed.(4) The Regulator may, in writing (a) require the holder of an electrical contractor's licence to produce to the Regulator evidence that the holder is, or was at a particular time, complying with subregulation (1) ; or(b) require the former holder of an electrical contractor's licence to produce to the Regulator evidence that the former holder complied with subregulation (1) when that licence was in force.(5) The holder or former holder of an electrical contractor's licence must comply with a requirement under subregulation (4) within such time, of not less than 7 days, as the Regulator specifies in the document containing the requirement.(6) If the holder of an electrical contractor's licence fails to comply with a requirement under subregulation (1) , the Regulator may, in addition to or instead of any other action that may be taken in relation to the non-compliance, suspend the licence until the holder does so comply.
5. Regulation 17A inserted
After regulation 17 of the Principal Regulations , the following regulation is inserted in Part 7:17A. Regulator to be notified of changed particulars
The holder of a licence under the Act must notify the Regulator in writing within 21 days if (a) there is a change in any of the following things applicable to the holder:(i) the holder's name;(ii) a registered business name used for the licence;(iii) the address of the holder's registered office;(iv) the address of the holder's principal place of business in this State;(v) a telephone or facsimile number used in connection with the licence;(vi) an electronic mail address used in connection with the licence; or(b) the holder acquires a new telephone, facsimile or electronic mail service for use in connection with the licence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations (a) revise and augment the Regulator's supervisory powers over electrical contractors as regards insurance requirements; and(b) provide, so as to improve the administration of the licensing regime under the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act 1997 , that licensees must notify the Regulator of certain particulars, including any change of name or address.
