Justices Amendment (Passenger Transport Offences) Rules 2000

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following rules under section 144 of the Justices Act 1959 .

1.   Short title

These rules may be cited as the Justices Amendment (Passenger Transport Offences) Rules 2000 .

2.   Commencement

These rules take effect immediately after the Passenger Transport Act 1997 commences.

3.   Principal Rules

In these rules, the Justices Rules 1976 are referred to as the Principal Rules.

4.   Schedule III amended (Specified offences)

Schedule III to the Principal Rules is amended as follows:
(a) by inserting the following item after item 7:
7A.   Passenger Transport Act 1997 and any regulations made under it
(b) by inserting the following item after item 11A:
11B.   Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 and any regulations made under it
(c) by omitting item 12 and substituting the following item:
12.   Traffic Act 1925, section 14
(d) by omitting item 15.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the rule)

These rules amend the list of offences in Schedule III to the Justices Rules 1976 consequent on the enactment of the Passenger Transport Act 1997 and related legislation. A person who is charged with such an offence may enter a written plea to the charge.
