Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Amendment Rules 2000

The Board of Legal Education makes the following rules under the Legal Profession Act 1993 .

1.   Short title

These rules may be cited as the Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Amendment Rules 2000 .

2.   Commencement

These rules take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Rules

In these rules, the Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Rules 1994 are referred to as the Principal Rules.

4.    Rule 10 substituted

Rule 10 of the Principal Rules is rescinded and the following rule is substituted:

10.   Certificate under section 23 of the Act

(1)  A person may apply to the Board for a certificate that he or she has the qualifications specified in section 23 of the Act.
(2)  If the Board is satisfied that a person has the qualifications specified in section 23 of the Act, the Board is to issue a certificate in accordance with Form 1 of Schedule 2 .

5.    Rule 14 rescinded

Rule 14 of the Principal Rules is rescinded.

6.    Rule 16 amended (Form of articles)

Rule 16 of the Principal Rules is amended by omitting "of apprenticeship and articles".

7.    Schedule 2 amended (Forms)

Schedule 2 to the Principal Rules is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting Form 1 and substituting the following form:

(c) by omitting Form 7 and substituting the following form:

These rules were made by the Board of Legal Education at a meeting held on 18 April 2000.

These rules amend the Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Rules 1994 (S.R. 1994, No. 228) by removing references to apprentices-at-law.
