Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 2000

I make the following order under section 3 of the Poisons Act 1971 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 2000 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette or on 17 March 2000, whichever is the later.

3.   Principal Order

In this order, the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990 is referred to as the Principal Order.

4.   Schedule 1 amended (Prohibited substances)

Schedule 1 to the Principal Order is amended by omitting item 37 and substituting the following item:
37.   Indian hemp (otherwise known as cannabis) except hemp fibre containing 0.1% or less of tetrahydrocannabinol and products manufactured from such fibre.

This order is administered in the Department of Health and Human Services.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order)

This order amends the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990 by exempting hemp fibre containing 0.1% or less of tetrahydrocannabinol and products manufactured from such fibre from the list of prohibited substances.
