Radiation Control Amendment Regulations 1999
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Radiation Control Act 1977 .

These regulations may be cited as the Radiation Control Amendment Regulations 1999 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Radiation Control Regulations 1994 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting the definition of International Regulations and substituting the following definition:International Regulations means the Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material (1985 edition incorporating the 1988 supplement) published by the International Atomic Energy Agency;(b) by omitting the definition of Relevant Document and substituting the following definition:Relevant Document means Publication 68 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (Annals of the ICRP Volume 24 No. 4 1994) entitled "Dose Coefficients for Intakes of Radionuclides by Workers" or its replacement publication;(c) by omitting the definition of Safe Transport Code .
5. Regulation 4 amended (Non-application of regulations)
Regulation 4(b) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "kilogram" and substituting "gram".
6. Regulation 8A inserted
Before regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations , the following regulation is inserted in Part 3:The Director of Public Health is designated as the competent authority for the purpose of the International Regulations.
7. Regulation 17 amended (Approval of disposal site)
Regulation 17 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:(a) the responsible Department in relation to the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 ; and
8. Regulation 18 amended (Release to sewer)
Regulation 18(2) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph:(b) the responsible Department in relation to the Sewers and Drains Act 1954 ; and
Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.
