Poisons Amendment (Nursing) Regulations 1999
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Poisons Act 1971 .

These regulations may be cited as the Poisons Amendment (Nursing) Regulations 1999 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Poisons Regulations 1975 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Part 4, Division 3A: Heading amended
The heading to Division 3A of Part 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "in medical institutions".
5. Regulation 37B amended (Interpretation of Division)
Regulation 37B of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting " Nursing Act 1987 " and substituting " Nursing Act 1995 ".
Regulation 37C of the Principal Regulations is rescinded and the following regulation is substituted:37C. Enrolled nurse may administer certain substances
For the purposes of section 38(1)(i) of the Act, an enrolled nurse may administer a substance listed in Schedule 2, 3, or 4 of the Poisons List if the enrolled nurse (a) acts (i) in accordance with the written authority of a medical practitioner or dentist; and(ii) under the supervision of a medical practitioner, dentist or registered nurse; and(b) holds any qualifications the Executive Officer of the Nursing Board of Tasmania determines are appropriate for the administration of that substance.
