Proclamation under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, by this my proclamation made under sections 14(1) , (1A) and 15A of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970
21 December 1998(a) declare the areas of Crown land specified in Schedule 1 to this proclamation to be a conservation area; and(b) give the name Port Sorell Conservation Area to that conservation area; and(c) give the name Port Sorell Conservation Area to the areas of land in the County of Devon, Parish of Harford, declared by the proclamation published in the Gazette on 12 September 1945 to be a sanctuary with respect to birds generally; and(d) declare that this proclamation takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE 1 - Port Sorell Conservation AreaAll that area of Crown land comprising Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as shown bounded by heavy black lines on Plan No. 4085 in the Central Plan Register, a reduced copy of which is set out, by way of illustration only, in Schedule 2 to this proclamation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the proclamation)
This proclamation (a) declares an area of Crown land to be a conservation area and gives the name Port Sorell Conservation Area to that area of land; and(b) gives that name to other land that was previously declared to be a sanctuary with respect to birds.
