Wildlife Amendment (Open Season) Regulations 1998

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Wildlife Amendment (Open Season) Regulations 1998 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Wildlife Regulations 1971 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.   Schedule 2 amended (Open seasons for certain forms of partly protected wildlife)

Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:

(a) by omitting from the item relating to adult male deer "28 February 1998 to 29 March 1998" and substituting "27 February 1999 to 28 March 1999";

(b) by omitting from the item relating to antlerless deer "14 March 1998 to 29 March 1998 and 9 May 1998 to 14 June 1998" and substituting "13 March 1999 to 28 March 1999 and 8 May 1999 to 14 June 1999";

(c) by omitting the item relating to wild duck and substituting the following item:

In respect of any place other than Lake Crescent or any stream, swamp or marsh adjoining or draining into Lake Crescent, 6 March 1999 to 6 June 1999

(d) by omitting from paragraph (a) of the item relating to muttonbird "1998", twice occurring, and substituting "1999";

(e) by omitting from paragraph (b) of the item relating to muttonbird "28 March 1998 to 13 April 1998" and substituting "3 April 1999 to 18 April 1999";

(f) by inserting in paragraph (a) of the item relating to wallaby "and King Island" after "Flinders";

(g) by omitting subparagraph (ii) from paragraph (b) of the item relating to wallaby and substituting the following subparagraph:

(ii) 3 April 1999 to 20 February 2000.

(h) by omitting from the item relating to brown quail "2 May 1998 to 31 May 1998" and substituting "1 May 1999 to 30 May 1999";

(i) by omitting from the item relating to adult male pheasant "6 June 1998 to 7 June 1998" and substituting "12 June 1999 to 13 June 1999".
